2010 RXR / TIAA-CREF Long Island Marathon: Festival of Races Events
For the past 37 years, the Long Island Marathon has been serving Long Island's
running community as Long Island's premiere competitive
running event. For its 38th year, the RXR / TIAA-CREF Long Island Marathon:
Festival of Races will, again, take place on that first Sunday in May giving
Long Island area residents a chance to compete on all levels of athletic
competition.
In the early 1970's the "Earth Day Marathon" created, consisting of a 26.2
mile run inside Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. Later renamed renamed the "Long
Island Marathon," the event continued into the 1980's when the Half
Marathon was added in 1984. Since then, the Long Island Marathon and Half
Marathon have continued to thrive and evolve into the "RXR / TIAA-CREF
Long Island Marathon: Festival of Races," which now features a Marathon,
Half Marathon, 10K Race, 5K Race, 10Mile Run and Kids Fun Run.
The 2010 RXR / TIAA-CREF Long Island Marathon: Festival of Races, will take
place during the weekend of May 1st and May 2nd beginning with the 5K Race,
1 Mile Run and Kids Fun Run on Saturday, May 1st followed by the Marathon,
Half Marathon and 10K Race taking place on May 2nd -continuing a long
