ROAD CLOSINGS (5K race - Saturday May 1, 2010):
The Nassau County “Hub” will be shut down to vehicular traffic starting at 7:30 AM until approximately 9:30 AM.  NCPD will determine which arteries into and out of the “hub” (Charles Lindbergh Blvd) will be accessible and at what times.  Police and Security will guide participants to parking.


ROAD CLOSINGS (Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K Race - Sunday May 2, 2010):
Park Drive will be closed rom Parking Field 5 to Merrick Avenue between 7:30 AM & 9:30 AM. Anyone arriving to Eisenhower Park during that time frame must use the Hempstead Turnpike Entrance to the park

Wantagh Parkway: 7:00 AM–3:00 PM
(Northern State  Pkwy to Merrick Rd.)

Salisbury Park Drive: 7:30 AM–11:00 AM
(Hempstead Tpk e. To Old Country Rd)

Merrick Avenue: 7:30 AM–11:00 AM
(Hempstead Tpke. To Old Country Rd)

Post Avenue: 7:30 AM–12:00 PM
(Railroad Ave To Jericho Tpke)

Jericho Turnpike: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
(EAST ONLY - Post Rd To Brush Hollow Rd)

Carman Avenue: 8:15 AM-2:00 PM
(NC Medical Center To Old Country Rd)

Various other roads, Or road sections will be closed throughout race day.


REST ROOMS
Restrooms will be available at each Merrick Avenue exit from Eisenhower Park.
Restrooms will be available adjacent to the start line on Charles Lindbergh Blvd.
Restrooms will be located sporadically along the race course: 2.75 Miles, 3 Miles, 5 Miles, 7 Miles, 9 Miles, 10 Miles (split)
Full Only: 11 Miles 13.5 Miles, 17 Miles, 19 Miles, 22 Miles.
(Dressing Facilities are limited)


PRE-RACE WATER
Water will be available adjacent to the start line on Charles Lindbergh Blvd.


Complimentary Baggage Check provided by UPS
UPS will provide a free baggage check for participants which will be located adjacent to the start line on Charles Lindbergh Blvd. Baggage will be moved to the finish line festival area where it may be claimed at the UPS Baggage Claim after you finish the race.


ALL RUNNERS SHOULD ASSEMBLE AT THE START LINE ON CHARLES LINDBERGH BLVD. BY 7:45 AM.
Wheelchair athletes must report to the start at 7:40 AM.


PACE SIGNS
Red & White pace signs will be placed along the roadway before the start line of the marathon, half marathon and 10K courses.


THE START LINE
Each starting line will feature an overhead truss and banner identifying the start line.

Timing mats will be placed at the start lines to provide participants with a “net” time. Mats will be turned off 10-minutes into the start of each race.


TIMING CHIPS and RACE NUMBERS
All participants will be given a timing tag to be used during each event.  Tags will be distributed at race check-in during the expo.  This tag is disposable and will not be collected at the end of the race.

Each Race of the RXR Long Island Marathon: Festival of Races will be delineates by different colored running numbers as well as different numbering sequences as follows:

Marathon: 
Orange Number -  26000+
Half Marathon:
Blue Number -  13000-25000
10K Race:
Green Number -  10000-12500
5K Race:    
Red Number -  5000-6000
1 Mile Run: 
Teal Number  - 1-1000

Race numbers are NOT interchangable between races and are used to identify participants and ensure they are following the correct race course.


WATER STATIONS
Start, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 10.25 11, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23,24, 25 & Finish. Banners & balloons will identify water stops (Blue balloon tree at water tables, Orange balloon tree at replacement drink* tables).  Note: Duplicate Water stops 10,10.25, 11, & 11 indicate separate stops on both the full and half marathon courses.


REPLACEMENT DRINK
Replacement Drink will be located at 5 miles, 10 miles & all water stops along the full marathon on the Wantagh Parkway.


POWER GEL
Power Gel will be located at mile 10 & 18


SPLIT TIMES
Mile Markers will be posted at each mile. Digital Clocks or Split Timers will be present at every mile. Course times will be recorded at the 10K, 20K, ½-full marathon, & 30K.


EMERGENCY AID ON THE RACE ROUTE
Aid Stations will be located just before 6 miles, 10 miles, 14 miles, 18 miles,23 miles, & 25 miles.
Volunteers from LIMARC / ARES (radio operators) will be stationed at various points along the route.  They will assist in getting you help. If you decide to drop out of the race for any reason, Please inform one of these LIMARC / ARES volunteers.


RACE ROUTE SPLITS 4.5mi, 10mi (note: course details subject to change without notice.)
10K Split: School Street – Salisbury Park Drive
10K Participants (Green Numbers) will make a right turn onto Salisbury Park Drive from Old Country Road at approximately 4.25 miles. Participants CAN NOT switch between the 10K and other races during the event.


10 Mile Mark - Marathon / Half Marathon Split (note: course details subject to change without notice.)
Half Marathoners (Blue Numbers) split off at 10 Miles onto Carmen Avenue for the return to Eisnehower Park
Marathoners (Orange Numebrs) continue down the Wantagh Parkway towards Sunrise Highway


THE FINISH LINE
Marathon , Half Marathon, and 10K Race participants will finish inside Eisenhower Park.
There are separate finish lines for the Half Marathon and the 10K and Marathon races.
Half Marathon participants will finish on the LEFT side of the chute, Marathon and 10K Race participants will finish on the RIGHT side of the chute.

Marathon, Half Marathon participants will receive finisher medals upon returning their timing chips in the finish chute.

Volunteers will remove timing chips (if necessary) from each participant before they leave the finish line chute area.

REFRESHMENTS
Participant refreshments will be provides for each participant and will likely include a bagel, apple slices, fresh fruit and crackers in addition to bottles of water and replacement drink.

These refreshments are for PARTICIPANTS ONLY and only participants wearing a running number will be allowed to receive refreshments.  There will be no re-entry to the refreshment area once participants have moved into the family gathering area.

MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE AT THE END OF THE FINISH LINE SYSTEM ON PARTICIPANTS’ LEFT SIDE.

AWARDS CEREMONY
Half Marathon and 10K awards will be given out at approximately 10:45 AM followed by live music.
Full Marathon awards will be given out at approximately 12 PM followed by an encore live musical performance.

Awards presented on race day: (Same for all races) Top 3 Females, Top 3 Males.
Awards not claimed on race day will be mailed to winners at a later date. Check results at www.thelimarathon.com.


COMPETITION RULES
All 2010 RXR Long Island Marathon: Festival of Races events are sanctioned by the USA Track & Field.  All USATF rules will be enforced in this event.

ASSISTANCE
A runner may not receive (water, Split times, Etc.) from any person not entered in the race, who runs, skates, or cycles on the course.

PETS, SKATEBOARDS, ROLLER BLADES/SKATES, BABY STROLLERS/JOGGERS ARE PROHIBITED ON THE RACE ROUTE
Nassau County ordinance #265, Section 5, Sub-division 9 (Animals are not permitted in Nassau Country Parks, Without the expressed permission of the Commissioner.)

RACE RESULTS
Race Results will be posted on the RXR Long Island Marathon website or Newsday.com within several hours of the end of all races at www.thelimarathon.com.

KIDZ FUN RUN for a Healthy Nassau
At 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 1, 2010, the Kidz FunRun will take place at the Mitchel Athletic Complex. 
This non-competitive event is free kids ages 1-11.  Participants will receive a finisher medal and get to meet Sparky the dragon of the New York Islanders.
